I quite like FireEagle, although I feel it still has a few flaws. The open update API is a great idea and makes it really attractive for developers. I haven't seen any of the other big players offer that functionality.

You may have already seen this but there is an application called Citysense in San Fransisco that shows you "hot" areas of activity, i.e. the most popular spots for nightlife etc. Being able to say something like "how cool" and getting a report back on how popular the area you are in would be neat.

Hi - We think there is quite a bit of potential to use Dial2Do in conjunction with other LBS. For example, it would be nice to say something like "Friends nearby" and hear where your friends are, if they are "nearby". So we think the right way to do that is for us to partner with the other LBS players. FireEagle is great for that - it has APIs for both updating and retrieving location, for yourself, or for your friends. So we started there.

All suggestions welcome!

Cheers, Sean

I find it interesting that you have implemented a FireEagle "updater". Is this a prelude to offering some sort of location based services through FE?
